Calling All Custom Fans
Legendary Custom Car Builders to be at the Wally Parks NHRA Museum
Continuing with its popular Saturday morning events, the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum, presented by the Automobile Club of Southern California, will host a panel of legendary custom car builders on Aug. 12, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Historic customizers, such as Hershel "Junior" Conway, Dean Jeffries, Bill Hines, Larry Watson, and Gene Winfield, will offer insights and tell stories about customizing in the ’50s, ’60s, ’70s, and beyond. The program, titled California Custom Car Legends, will be hosted by renowned automotive designer Thom Taylor, and is based on the museum's current exhibit, California Customs, which runs through Oct. 9th. Custom Rodder magazine is helping sponsor the event, and will have full coverage in an upcoming issue. The panel discussion is $20 per person and includes lunch and drinks.
"It is a rare treat to have such a collection of famous customizers in the same room." said Greg Sharp, curator of the Parks museum. "All the panelists are in the Grand National Roadster Show Hall of Fame. Our panels have a tendency to be a lot of fun and this one should be great.
