The SSBC front disc brake kit used the original Ford spindles. Lance simply bolted new caliper brackets on where the drum brake backing plates used to go.
After cleaning the new rotors and packing the bearings with high-temp grease, Lance slipped them on the spindles. Note the rotor slots, which are designed to aid braking by providing outlets for brake pad heat, gas, and debris.
SSBC Force 10 calipers feature an aluminum-body, four-piston design. They were installed using the furnished hardware. Again, new brake hoses were used to link the calipers to the original brake line brackets on the frame.
The old single-jug master cylinder just wouldn't suffice with new four-wheel discs...
...so a new booster and dual-chamber master cylinder were installed using the supplied brackets.
Securing and adjusting the booster linkage was another relatively simple procedure.
Since the original brake light switch was on the master cylinder, Lance had to fabricate a bracket to install a pedal-activated switch.
The master cylinder was bench bled and mounted to the booster. New steel brake lines had to be made and a metering valve was installed before the entire brake system was bled.
To give the Ford a little added sparkle to match its new stopping prowess, Lance chose 17-inch Cragar SS wheels wrapped in BFG rubber. Combined with the fresh springs and performance shocks, the new rolling stock should also improve the car's handling.
